Guerrier Inc Consolidation

Fri Dec 02

The following appeared in the Atlantis Patriot:

Guerrier Inc Consolidation
King Renkek issued forced sale orders for all outstanding shares in Amue and Ragnarok Inc this evening. All minor share holders were forced to sell their shares; so, Renkek could merge the three companies. Most of the share holders also own part of Guerrier Inc; so, they benefitted from the merger twice.
The Amue Club will remain in operation, but is now directly owned by Guerrier Inc. King Renkek said in a statement to the employees, "No one will lose their jobs. This merger was done for logistical reasons and the only visible change to our clients will be some storefront names changing; however, the employees will not be required to transfer."

Board of Regents II

Sat Oct 29

As seen in Soldier of Fortune:
This anonymous audio feed was send via the ACN to our office. While we can't vouch for it's accuracy, it certainly gives an interesting insight into recent events:

Sharper says, "After much consideration, I am considering promoting you to the rank of Regent and asking you to join the Board."
Sharper says, "If that occured, are there any special goals you would have as a Regent?"
Sorin says, "Hmm..."
Sharper says, "Currently, with Regent Hawk missing, I am able to direct the path of Atlantis in more peaceful directions. I presume you've noticed the lack of major wars lately. I like to think that I could trust you to help me continue keeping the peace, instead of causing contention and strife amongst the few remaining humans."
Sorin says, "I certainly wouldn't mind if the refugee war could be kept from spilling over into public areas as often."
Sharper says, "We've also had a bit of a piracy problem in the past. It's harder to hold any specific group accountable when something occurs in the open ocean."
Sharper says, "Ultimately, we need the various groups to work together so that we can reclaim the surface and return to space."
Sorin says, "I haven't noticed that being a huge issue lately. Occasionally a rogue group will cause some trouble in the upper ocean, but generally that's kept to a minimum."
Sharper says, "That's hard to do when everyone is wasting materials and resources killing each other."
Sorin says, "Do we even know the surface to be habitable?"
Sharper says, "There has been occasional exploration, but other than some nice pictured taken from the mouths of caves that we've drilled up to from below, no, it isn't. That's one of the major problems we scientists must solve."
Sharper says, "Some of the magical healing and shielding practices that have been developed are useful to protect against the radiation levels, but they're hard to sustain."
Sorin says, "Presumably some of the less inhabited areas would be the least contaminated. They wouldn't have been primary targets."
Sharper nods, "The issue is of course that the most accessible areas to us are those near the coastlines, which also tended to be hit the hardest."
Sharper says, "If we can get the Caves reopened and cleared, that would provide us with access to the western North American mountains, where we might have more success.""
Sharper says, "Are you familiar with the story?"
Sorin says, "Only the heavily industrialized portions. The Philippians probably didn't get hit too hard, for example."
Sorin says, "Which story?"
Sharper says, "You forget the extensive Naval bases the Capitalists had there."
Sharper says, "The story of the initial cave exploration."
Sorin says, "Can't say I have."
Sharper says, "Not many have. It's been hushed up over the years. Too dangerous if someone were to stumble into them accidently."
Sharper says, "You've seen the damage that the Spiders have been doing somewhat recently, right?"
Sorin says, "Not as much now that Arachno's dead."
Sharper says, "They are a mutation. Probably mostly natural, although there is some evidence that their intelligence has been enhanced with genetic manipulation and training at some point."
Sharper says, "Now imagine a race that started as human. Highly intelligent humans, and then mutated into a new species."
Sharper says, "Early on, a team was sent into the caves to explore and see how close they could get to the surface. That's when the cave dock was initially built."
Sharper says, "The public story is that the team was lost."
Sharper says, "The truth is not as pretty,"
Sharper says, "They were lost and further exploration was put on hold."
Sharper says, "Most think that the cave-ins that blocked the entrance to the caves was accidental."
Sharper says, "Some members of that initial team survived near the hell that is the surface world. They mutated for survival. They still mostly look human enough, but they can no longer cross breed."
Sharper says, "They developed a regeneration ability that while it led to that ability as a skill here in Atlantis, they all now possess naturally."
Sharper says, "They are also severely inbred."
Sharper says, "Which has led to some mental disorders, to put it politely."
Sharper says, "Their society degenerated into a tribal one, with the strongest warrior leading, until killed."
Sharper says, "Eventually, some of the remnants found their way back to the Cave Dock."
Sharper says, "They decided that they would convert Atlantis to their tribe."
Sharper says, "Rather then resort to genoicide, as some suggested, the Board blocked the lower Cave entrance permanently."
Sharper says, "Eventually, they are going to find their way out again, or we will want to explore again, this time with a team better prepared for the hazards. Either way, it's up to the Board to be prepared."
Sharper says, "Still interested in a position as a Regent? It means that you will have to become even more Neutral than you have been, as you will need to put the needs of Atlantis ahead of your personal desires."
Sharper says, "We've seen what comes of a Regent not doing that."
Sorin says, "More neutral how?"
Sharper says, "That's not to say that you can't continue to pursue your own interests, you'll just need to be more mindful when your actions can affect all of Atlantis."
Sorin says, "So basically what we discussed awhile ago about neutrals staying out of the war?"
Sharper says, "That's part of it, certainly. However, you will no long have any blind responsibilities like that."
Sharper says, "Rather than follow the rules, you will be part of making them."
Sharper says, "Making them in the best interests of Atlantis, the Board and the human race as a whole."
Sharper says, "So, what do you say?"
Sharper says, "You don't have to decide right away."
Sorin says, "Does sound like it might be interesting."
Sorin says, "So what else does it entail?"
Sharper says, "Helping to run the Commodity board, a quarter of Regent Corp., the immunities and such spelled out in the Regent Laws, some other odds and ends."
Sharper says, "Appointing officers such as the head of the Shore Patrol. Things like that, some largely ceremonial, others mostly power based."
Sorin says, "I'm thinking."
Sorin says, "Very well. I'll do it."
Sharper says, "Congratulations, Regent."
Sorin says, "Thank you, Regent."

Board of Regents

Sat Oct 29

As seen on Atlantis Holovision:
After the mysterious vanishing of Regent Hawk, the Board of Regents today met and decided to promote noted scientist and businessman Sorin to the vacant office. In related news, Regent Sorin has also assumed a large minority interest in Regent Corporation, Neutral makers of submarines and related articles.
It is hoped that this new Regent will help lead Atlantis to greater prosperity and safety.

Arachno Defeated

Fri Aug 26

As seen on Atlantis Holovision:
Last night in a battle raging from Merctown to the Plaza and finally culminating in the underground, Arachno, the evil genius who declared himself to be responsible for summoning the ongoing spider attacks on Atlantis, was defeated and killed by a team led by Regent Sam Harper. Joining the Regent were Senior Professor Sorin, Doctor Warwick, Master Deremus, Captain Graf and Baroness Mason.
Since the defeat of Arachno, Atlantis hasn't experienced any further spider attacks in populated areas.

Neutral Recapture Ports

Thu Aug 18

From Atlantis Holovision:
With the Shore Patrol sitting idly by after several high-ranking officers resigned rather than face the recent Totalitarian port invasions, Senior Professor Sorin, Doctor Warwick, and Master Deremus took it upon themselves at the behest of the Board of Regents to free the besieged Neutral ports of Genetica, Dark Moon and Tempest from the grip of the Totalitarian Party.
Recent Totalitarian expansion seems to have been focused on the outer ports. While the Graf Free Company appears to have held it's own against the Party and the Board has taken up some of the Shore Patrol's slack enforcement and protection, two former Mercenary and Independent Ports are still currently in the hands of Party forces. Neutral scientists are advised to avoid Omnis Bustom and Idrica Centro until the Party makes it's intentions clearer.

From the Atlantis Times:
Comrades, our forces march on inexorably with the tide of history. Our forces clever diversions elsewhere have left us in unopposed possession of our true targets and clearly ahead in our goal to provide real social justice to the populations of the outer ports.

Breaking News (continued)

Fri Jul 29

From Atlantis Holovision:
Continuing our breaking news coverage of the inter-cap conflict, we return to our Captown footage.

Graf nods to Renkek, "Your Majesty."
Renkek nods to Graf "Captain."
Jenkins says, "Do not underestimate me, or the rest of the council. I am not looking for a war between us, but I will not hold back to protect my people."
Graf says, "I have offered to negotiate terms of recompense for the damages done to me last night, but you have refused my generous offer. You are in no position to dictate terms, Chairman.
Jenkins says, "Do you see Captain Graf? I am a tool of the people, I do as they decide we should do. You dont seem to understand that, it was not solely my decision last night to accept the Regents proposition"
Graf says, "No, that drunken fool Billy Guerrier was leading you, wasn't he?
Jenkins says, "If one man alone wanted to accept, it would not have been possible"
Jenkins turns to Renkek, "So you will turn your back on the Defense Council and its decisions?"
Graf says, "Isn't he a member of the council now?
Jenkins says, "He could be a member of the council, that is all up to him"
Jenkins says, "But I am sure there are many others who are eager for a seat on the council"
Graf says, "Have you heard some of the stories about what Regent Hawk does to

Graf continues, "Does it bother you to be allied with him and apparently the Totalitarian Party?
Jenkins says, "You speak of peace to me Captain, and than you speak of this."
Jenkins says, "If you wish for the Defense Council to discuss and vote on the matter of negotiations, I will bring it up in our next meeting. But until than your forces are to be considered as hostile invaders of our ports."
Renkek sighs "I'll turn my back against you yourself I'm sure my cousin billy will see the truth once the family talks to him." he looks to Jenkins "no they're his ports for now I understand that, thanks to a decision you made and wrongly convinced my cousin to decide as well with you."
Jenkins glares at Renkek, "Have you lost your wits?"
Renkek shakes his head "not at all."
Graf says, "I don't think you should insult the honor of the Guerrier King, Chairman. Your decisions recently have been quite costly to your faction.
Jenkins says, "Really? I dont see it that way. But if that is how you wish to make it appear, than so be it."
Graf says, "Your own constituents will judge you.
Jenkins says, "As for the Guerriers, it is apparent that they no longer have the will to govern and protect our people. No wonder they left it up to a Mercenary"
Jenkins says, "I will no longer allow this spineless yielding however. The Defense Council will once again become powerful and we will no longer need outside protection."
Renkek sighs "Chairman, even if we have the money to buy a few droids they're not as good what the Captain trains, and we don't have the resources he does either." he sighs "Maybe one day we will have, but for now we need the protection such as the Captain can provide."
Jenkins says, "As I mentioned before, I will bring up the Negotiations in the councils next meeting. As to how the vote will go, that I cannot say"
Graf says, "In the meantime, any attacks upon my forces will be met with return force upon the instigator.
Graf says, "Good day.

As you can see, recent events have sparked quite a conflict within the Capitalist Defense Council and raised the specter of all out war once again over the head of the residents of Atlantis. This is Atlantis Holovision breaking news, reporting from Captown.

Breaking News

Fri Jul 29

From Atlantis Holovision:
We have breaking news concerning the recent events transferring possession of Syria, Guerrier and Liberty Ports to a Mercenary Free Company. This footage was shot recently and uploaded to our affiliate station in Captown.

Jenkins says, "I am willing to lead the attack force, but I do need another vote in order to requisition funds for the droids needed."
Renkek shakes his head "I will not help I'm not the one that fired the Captain and still wish to remain friendly with him."
Jenkins says, "So you will have our people in Syria and Guerrier dock kept under his occupying force?"
Jenkins says, "All I wish to do is liberate our docks and leave them under our own guard."
Jenkins says, "Does it not bother you that your own dock has been claimed by the GFC?"
Renkek shakes his head "I hate to do such but I trust the captain more than you may. Also I would like to know why you decided to end the contract to begin with?"
Jenkins says, "We have deemed that the contract with the captain is no longer needed, the Defense Council now has the neccesary funds to maintain and operate its own defenses."
Jenkins says, "It is foolish to leave our entire defense in one mans hands."
Renkek shakes his head "As King of the Guerriers all Guerriers will be encouraged to vote against you and replace you with someone else Chairman." He shakes his head and leaves saying nothing else.

Graf appears.
Graf says, "Your current actions aren't calculated to extend your life expectancy, Chairman."
Jenkins smirks, "Captain Graf, how nice of you to appear.
Jenkins speaks into his Radio.
Jenkins says, "fleet move 1."
Graf says, "I would suggest that you try negotiation before you attempt to raise an army against me."

Renkek says, "As King of the Guerriers, I ask all remaining family members or any employee that works for any company owned by any member, to vote for someone besides the Current Chairman of the Defense Council. As members of my family had previously made the contract with Captain Graf and I had continued it after their death I am in no way for cancelling the contract with Captain. I'm sorry it's too late now to say that now but it still stands."
Jenkins says, "fleet move 1"

Jenkins says, "You underestimate the Defense Council, Captain Graf."
Cpt_Graf says, "Thank you, Your Majesty. I am currently discussing the conflict with Chairman Jenkins in Captown."
Graf turns back to Jenkins, "Really? You don't think those droids hold any intimidation value, do you?"
Jenkins says, "Captain, if I meant to intimidate you I would do so myself."
Graf chuckles.
Graf says, "Perhaps you would like to join me in the Arena so that I may show you the error of your ways?
Jenkins says, "Negotiations you ask for? That would be up to the defense council to vote for or against, but I highly doubt we would think of such a thing. Our ports will be liberated soon enough."
Jenkins says, "Now lets put it this way Captain. You can choose to wage a personal war against the Defense Council if you like, but that would be silly wouldnt it? Our contract with you has been terminated and we are taking back our ports with or without your consent"
Graf says, "Your ports? The Defense Council didn't control them until I captured them for them. I merely asked for reparations for the attack upon me and my droids in your HQ last night, but apparently you aren't even willing to negotiate that. You are a poor leader for your people.
Jenkins says, "The defense council thanks you for your services in the past, but that time has come to an end."
Jenkins says, "And of course you know why we dont need you anymore, dont you?"
Graf says, "Certainly. Regent Hawk has found a way to bring war and strife back to the lives of ordinary Atlanteans, where peace was found before.
Graf says, "By bribing greedy Capitalists.
Graf says, "You risk much when you take sides in conflicts between Regents. Things aren't always what they seem, nor do they always turn out how you might anticipate. That's something the Mercenary Guild discovered years ago.
Jenkins shrugs, "I know this much, we are not your enemy. Last night an opportunity came for the Defense Council to reclaim its former glory. What would you think we could do? Reject his offer? Dont be a fool."
Graf says, "You've made a good start back to glory by having your forces defeated inside your own headquarters and losing all your outer ports. What's next, mass ritual suicide?

More After this word from Regent Submarines and our other sponsors.

DC Breaks GFC Contract

Fri Jul 29

From the Atlantis Patriot Editorial Section:
Earlier this evening the newly elected councilors on the Defense Council, Chairman Jenkins and Councilor Billy Guerrier voted to accept 35 million oxy from Regent Hawk in order to break the DC's defense contract with the Graf Free Company. They were also promised 10 million more, in addition to the Tote bounty of 25 million oxy, if they could capture Captain Graf. Regent Hawk was not available for comment.
The Editorial board of the Patriot deplores this action by the Defense Council and urges all Capitalists to withdraw their support from the councilors that voted in favor of it. Not only did their effort to capture Captain Graf fail miserably, but we've also lost Syria, Guerrier and Liberty to the forces that yesterday were protecting those locations on our behalf. Was that really worth 35 million Oxy? Only time will tell for sure, but trying to fulfill Tote bounties is not what we expect from our elected officials.

From Soldier of Fortune:
Earlier this evening the Capitalist Defense Council ended a prominent contract with the Graf Free Company and attacked the owner of the company. Of course, the Free Company prevailed, but this should give caution to other Mercenaries seeking contracts with the Caps and Totes.
Captain Graf had this to say on the radio, "Due to recent unprovoked attacks upon my person by the Defense Council and their prior stated desire to cancel their contract with the Graf Free Company, I am announcing that the Free Company is taking over Syria, Guerrier and Liberty Ports, effective now. Nothing will change in terms of visitors, but large groups of droids are temporarily forbidden in those locations until the situation settles down. The Free Company is willing to open negotiations for battle reparations for the return of some of the Ports."
Mercenary forces are advised to avoid those ports in large numbers until things settle down.

From the Atlantis Times:
Our diplomatic corp has negotiated a great victory tonight, convincing the Capitalist Pig Dogs to drop that overrated Mercenary Company. In the confusion, they even lost several Ports to the Mercs. As usual, the Party's master five-year plan is proceeding on schedule. In unrelated news, the Party coffers are filled to overflowing with the products of our people's work. Our managed economy is proving itself completely superior to the chaos of the Capitalists.

Mercs Reclaim Ports

Fri Jul 22

From the Atlantis Patriot:
Captown, Guerrier Port and Syria Port have all been reclaimed on behalf of the Defense Council by forces of the Graf Free Company. Reports of droid causualties among the Party forces were high, while the Graf Free Company claimed to have not lost any men or droids in the counter attack operation.

From the Atlantis Times:
Today the officer in charge of outer port defenses was put in front of a firing squad for high treason and gross incompetence. According to Defense Ministry officials, the officer squandered many of the recent territory gains and was picked out by a confidential informer as having been seen speaking with a Capitalist recently.

From Soldier of Fortune:
The Tote and Cap war recently escalated, with Captown, Syria and Guerrier trading hands to the Totes and then back to the Caps. It is rumoured that West Dock and Totetown were also cleaned out of Party Droids, but as no permanent presence of Cap forces is present in Totetown, that rumour must stay unconfirmed. In unrelated news, Squid attacks seem to be up recently, with at least one squid making it's way into West Dock.

Invasions!

Thu Jul 21

The following appeared in the Atlantis Times, Atlantis Patriot, and Soldier of Fortune. The headlines vary greatly.

Last week, members of the Shore Patrol, Guerrier Family, and Totalitarian Party witnessed Graf Free Company droids invade Genetica. The invading forces were defeated quickly by joint forces of the witnesses. Captain Graf has denied that these droids were acting under his orders and has offered a 5 million oxy reward for the capture of the one responsible for framing his company. The droids did belong to the Graf Free Company faction; however, the vehicles they arrived in were standard-issue Mercenary Guild and thus did not have a record of the original owner.
While the invasion of Genetica was occurring, spiders attacked and captured Zion for a short time. The Graf Free Company acted quickly and removed the invaders.
The Totalitarian Regime invaded CapTown, Guerrier, and Syria on July 21, 2115. The forces were led by Premier Calisto, and, newly promoted, Admiral Kliv. Defensive forces stationed by the Graf Free Company were unable to withstand any of the attacks without their captain.

The Atlantis Patriot and Soldier of Fortune editions include:
The Graf Free Company is expected to liberate the capture ports without much difficulty. The Capitalist Alliance is safe and secure.

The Atlantis Times edition includes:
The Party has won a glorious victory! Our worker's paradise is near at hand! We may be nearing an end to our war for peace!

Hate, Death, Deception

Tue Jul 12

The following appeared in the Atlantis Times:

Mystery
Produced by Cloud Strifer.
Earlier this year, the young company owner Sephiroth was killed by Marti trying to escape a crime scene, or was he? I've gotten some information from sources I cannot reveal that state Marti killed Sephiroth; so that, Renkek could live in peace, and Marti could get paid millions from the Defense Council funds and armies of highly trained droids to destroy the Regents and gain power over the whole world.
Before this all happened, Sephiroth killed Smith and Ilidio the Guerrier Inc. king. (I'm glad that filthy pig is gone.) My resources stated that Renkek asked Sephiroth to kill Ilidio for his postion and to kill Smith; so, the murder wouldn't leak to him.
Now to when Marti killed Sephiroth, my resources caught Renkek speaking to Marti on an radio channel telling him to kill Sephiroth for unknown reasons. I'm guessing that in the future the Regents will have a problem with Renkek and Marti.
This report was conducted by Cloud Strifer and the information by "A Friend of the Party".

Dark Moon History

Sat Jul 09

From a special presentation on Atlantis Holovision:
Droid technology has often been a source of conflict in Atlantis history. From the attempted military coup led by the original droid tycoon, Lefty, to the droid skirmishes constantly waged between the Capitalists and Totalitarians. At an early stage in Atlantis history, several ambitious entrepenuers from Atlantis decided that one research port was not enough. Among these relatively unknown pioneers was a man named Deremus Weil.
Deremus' vision was realized with the construction of what he named the Twin Ports - Dark Moon and Tempest. Originally, Tempest was planned as a commercial port and Dark Moon was designed for research and development. In a short time, development at Dark Moon created several significant breakthroughs due to outside technology gathered by Deremus, who became the creator of the fledgling Dark Moon Cybernetics department. This enabled the first droid construction outside Atlantis to be open to the public.
The breakthroughs of Dark Moon did not end there. Soon, a brilliant scientist from Genetica Research named Sam joined the Dark Moon team after Deremus offered him a place to conduct experiments without resriction. There, with Sam as lead scientist, Dark Moon announced the completion of their first prototype all sentient droid. Upon completion of it's droid project, Dark Moon continued to grow, but turned it's focus to Cybernetics, forming the official Dark Moon Cybernetics company.
Deremus, for unknown reasons retired and disappeared, leaving his company to the care of one Esprit D'amorce. Esprit would eventually become a Dean of Economics, but disappeared shortly therafter. After Esprit, Dark Moon Cybernetics shifted it's development completely to cyber research, abandoning their sentient droid development after running into several legal conflicts. The company was run by many CEO's in a relatively short time, in the process losing it's market dominance. Eventually, the Board of Regents invested in Dark Moon Cybernetics and took over ownership.
Recently, the original founder, Deremus Weil, has reappeared and purchased DMC from the Board.

Defense Council

Sat Jun 25

From the Atlantis Patriot:
Several recent deaths have led to a reorganization of the Defense Council. After a protracted election battle following King Ilidio's death, Councilor Renkek managed to get himself and Councilor Ayos elected to the Council in the place of the Ragnarok members. Concurrently, former Councilor and Ragnarok Inc owner Sephiroth was reported as shot while attempting to escape the Shore Patrol on a charge of Excessive Combat Droids.
In related moves, it is rumoured that Renkek is now King Renkek of the Guerrier, while Ayos was elevated to the title of Prince.
The new Defense Council revoked the transfer of Syria Port to Ragnarok and finalized the sale of Guerrier Inc, Ragnarok Inc and Amue from the Defense Council to King Renkek. They also paid for the DC contract with the Graf Free Company for several months using General Products as the payment.

Ragnarok Inc

Fri Jun 24

From the Atlantis Patriot:
Unnamed sources point to the emergence of the new company Ragnarok Inc. as a recent destabalizing force within the Defense Council. Not only was the previous DC Chairman and King of the Guerrier, Ilidio, killed by the head of Ragnarok, but now two Ragnarok members have siezed control of a majority of the Defense Council seats.
A highly-placed Defense Council source indicated that the fight with Ilidio was over a dispute about DC finances. Specifically, millions of Oxy missing from the DC accounts.
Shortly after assuming control, the Ragnarok Councilors transferred title for Syria Port from the Capitalist Alliance and the Defense Council to be now owned by Ragnarok Inc.
They apparently closed Syria Port to the public, Commander Sephiroth declaring on the radio that "No one enter syria port accept the faction of C:Ragnarok, Droids will attack". However, shortly afterwards he declared it open to the public.

New Torpedos

Thu Jun 23

From Atlantis Holovision:
Regent Corporation's Submarine division is proud to announce that their new model of torpedo allows friendlies to remote detonate on command. This, combined with a smaller blast radius, will help reduce friendly causualties in submarine battles.
Regent Harper was quoted as saying, "Now my droids won't have to dodge those blasted Cap and Tote torps as much!"
Regent Hawk said, "Xris'n old torps are a menace to navigation!!!!"
Effective immediately, the Board of Regents is requiring all submarine sales to include the new torpedos. Older submarines have also been retrofitted with the new models.
Not everyone is happy with the changeover. While acknowledging that the new torpedos are safer than the older models, Captain Graf of the Graf Free Company, a minor maker of mostly specialty submarines, commented that "with the added weight and delicate control electronics, these new torpedos can carry less explosives, are more susceptible to cannon damage and are more likely to explode off-target. However, we will of course be following the Board's edict in all of our docks."
OOC: See +help submarine for the +detonate # command.

SP Corruption?

Fri Jun 17

As seen on Atlantis Holovision:

Tonight the temporary head of the Shore Patrol, Marti, was demoted to Lieutenant after a lengthy discussion about recent Shore Patrol failings and SP attacks on Neutrals and Mercenaries. The SP droids involved in the incident, SP Droids #2170, #2177 and #2168 were ordered destroyed by the Board of Regents. More on that in a moment. Lieutenant Smith was promoted to Captain and made the new leader of the Shore Patrol. At the end of the trial, a dozen large spiders attacked Central Park from the Underground and multiple Spider droids came towards Atlantis in the ocean. A large group of Atlantis citizens, led by Regent Harper, Captain Smith, Professor Sorin and the Graf Free Company, successfully defended Atlantis from the Spider assault.
Atlantis Holovision has obtained this footage from after the battle. It is very revealing, so we will let it speak for itself.
. Central Park is visible through a porthole. Ilidio and Marti are present, as are ShorePatrol Droid <#2177> and ShorePatrol Droid <#2168>>

Ilidio says, "That is very generous of you. You cannot keep them because of the recent trial?"
Marti says, "Yes. These are the droids that were scheduled to be dismantled before the spiders attacked."
Marti says, "Also, you may have this hovertank."
Ilidio says, "I thought as much. I will have no problem in taking them."
Marti says, "Guards faction C:GuerrierInc"
Marti says, "The tank is unlocked. Once away from public eyes, you can hack the tank."
Ilidio nods, "Thank you. You new position must be difficult to adjust to."
Marti says, "It is, but I can still help you."
Ilidio says, "guards, name Guerrier."
Guerrier Droid <#2177> says, "My name is Guerrier Droid <#2177>."
Guerrier Droid <#2168> says, "My name is Guerrier Droid <#2168>."
Marti says, "I have not forgotten what transpired at Dark Moon."
Ilidio says, "I'm sure our dealings will not be ending so soon. I'm sure there will be things we can do for eachother."
Ilidio nods.
Marti says, "My associates and I are behind your family. If you ever have trouble with the Shore Patrol, I can smooth things over."
Marti says, "At the moment I ask only one favor in return."
Ilidio says, "Whatever I can do."
Marti says, "I may require safe haven."
Marti says, "If I require it, I expect to have it at one of your locations. Perhaps Guerrier dock."
Marti says, "That is all I need for now, safety in case of emergency."
Ilidio says, "I am sure Guerrier dock could be a suitable location. Now that it is back in our hands. If not, there can also be something arranged in the Defense Council area."
Marti says, "Thank you. Please do not hesitate if I can help you in any way. You know what I'm willing to do."
Ilidio says, "I do, and vice versa."
Marti says, "Good night your highness. I will leave you to your tank."
Ilidio nods, "I'm sure we'll be in contact."
Marti bows and does a Guerrier salute.
Ilidio smiles, then returns the salute.

Atlantis Holovision is deplored by this continued evidence of corruption in the Shore Patrol, disobeying orders of the Board of Regents and giving away valuable Shore Patrol military equipment to the Guerrier. The Board must act. That's all for tonight on the nightly news.

Shore Patrol Incidents

Mon Jun 13

As shown on Atlantis Holovision:
The Board of Regents has received various complaints from Neutral and Mercenary citizens of Atlantis that forces under the control of the Shore Patrol have attacked them without provocation and without a crime being committed. The current head of the Shore Patrol, Marti, has been officially summoned to answer these charges by the Board of Regents at 9:15pm, Thursday the 16th of June, 2115, in Central Park.
Any additional complaintants, witnesses and interested spectators are welcome to attend. Droids and hovertanks are hereby forbidden from being brought into or kept within Central Park from 9:00pm to 11:00pm that night, except with signed authorization from the Board of Regents. Shore Patrol Droids and hovertanks, except those droids accused of being involved in unwarranted attacks, are expressly forbidden by this order, but other officers of the Shore Patrol may attend as witness or keep order at the command of the Board.

Submarine Market Expands

Sat Jun 11

From the Atlantis Patriot:
The Graf Free Company has entered the submarine market with a new high-priced cargo submarine model. This model sports larger cargo compartments and a faster, more durable hull, at the expense of removing the normal torpedo tubes and replacing the cannon with a smaller model. Still, for the peaceful merchant, this is a must have sub that will over double the speed of your trading between ports. The sub currently can only be purchased at Liberty Dock.

Ocean Battle

Thu Jun 09

From the Atlantis Times:
We have won a glorious victory in the Upper Ocean, comrades! As you may know, our droid crews have been reaping a rich harvest in the ocean recently. Tonight a force of Shore Patrol Mercenaries led by a Neutral Pirate tried to destroy our mining and harvesting operations, but were repelled by Party Naval personnel and submarines under the command of Admiral Ivan.
We applaud the dedication and bravery of our fine navy and the leadership of Premier Calisto that makes it all possible. Long live the revolution!

GFC Bags

Sun Jun 05

The following appeared on Atlantis Holovision's weekly fashion roundup:
The Graf Free Company made a splash this week with their entrance into the fashion market. Besides selling boring standard military uniforms, they've come out with a very practical, yet retrosheik line of fashion accessories called simply bags. These bags are available in a variety of colors and sizes, although the customer service in their Old Merctown storefront reminds you more of retired drill sergeants than the usual clerks.

Submarine Hulls

Fri Jun 03

The following appeared in Soldier of Fortune and the Alantis Patriot:
Heinrich Spyri, inventor of froenza, has released a second invention that will change submarines throughout the world. The new substance is a variation on froenza which he has named sroenya. The substance combines the silencing benefits of froenza with enough strength increase to replace submarine hulls entirely. Submarines will no longer be metal coated with froenza. They will be built using sroenya which incorporates the properties of froenza.
Submarine prices from General Products at Syria have dropped by 80,000 oxy as a result. In addition, basic submarines now have hulls rated at 4 instead of 0.

Party Port

Wed Jun 01

From the Atlantis Times:
The Party coffers are full and our glorious five year plan is in full operation. There have been some recent setbacks with the xris'ed pig dogs hiring mercenary forces to fight their battles for them, resulting in the temporary loss of Guerrier, Syria and Party Ports, but with sufficient prior warning, most of the ports' Party Members returned to Totetown unharmed.
All of the Totalitarian People are ordered to continue to work hard and produce ore, hydro and oxy for the benefit of our great society. We shall overcome!

Droid Marketplace II

Wed Jun 01

From Soldier of Fortune and the Atlantis Patriot:
The recent Defense Council mercenary contract is already beginning to pay dividends for the Capitalists. The Graf Free Company has retaken Guerrier and Syria Ports. According to expert observers, the Totalitarians, despite having plenty of warning of the impending change of contractual obligations, seemed ill-prepared for a full out assault. Speculaton is that the Totalitarian eceonomy is faltering, leading to diminishing returns on their military investments.
From the Atlantis Patriot's merchant news section:
The ongoing battles for droid marketshare continue, with marketshare being transferred from Guerrier Robotics to Spyri Arms, General Products and the Graf Free Company. Speculation is that an unknown group took advantage of the confusion during the recent Capitalist recapture of the Guerrier port and dock to perform an attack on Guerrier Robotics.

Mysterious Assault

Thu May 26

From the Atlantis Journal and Soldier of Fortune:
Heinrich Spyri, wealthy inventor of froenza, was found beaten in his Zion mansion this morning. Doctors say he is in stable condition but may have sustained brain damage during the attack. Mr. Spyri has been reportedly repeating the word "smaragdus" over and over again. Mr. Spyri has spoken no other word since the assault.
The motive for the attack is unclear. One hypothesis put forth by investigators is a relationship to the January 31 (Patriot, SoF) stock crash caused by Mr. Spyri's legal suit. There is also speculation regarding the events which resulted in the historic concession by the Board of Regents. If that event is involved, the list of suspects could be endless. The Heinrich Spyri estate is estimated at 350,000,000 oxy, making him the wealthiest man in Atlantis.
The questions raised today are who did this, why, and what really happened on January 31?

Captown Invasion

Tue May 24

From the Atlantis Patriot and Soldier of Fortune:
A mercenary sub docked at Atlantis East. When the mercenary sub came under fire from a Capitalist droid stationed in the dock, large numbers of mercenary troops belonging to the Graf Free Company disembarked and destroyed the dock's surprised defenders. A new group of COL droids tried to intervene after their sub was destroyed in the crossfire, but they were also quickly rendered smoking piles of scrap.
In the meantime, one of the mercenary droids had found it's way to Captown itself, where a Patriot droid started firing at it. Once the battle in the dock was complete, the mercenary droids moved on to Captown to avenge their fallen comrade. After Captown was cleared of defenders, mercenary droids fanned out to local hotels and the defense council, destroying any droid defenders they could find.
There were no human casualties in the battles, but some of the Capitalist subfaction droids curiously refused to fire back at the mercenaries, citing orders from their leadership to defend only, even when attacked. An investigation has been launched by the Citizens Protection League into this failure to protect their comrades.

The Underground

Mon May 23

From the Atlantis Journal:
Master Richard Chiavo's funeral will be held Wednesday evening at 7pm. The service will be closed casket due to the wasting disease that caused his death. Master Chiavo was the sole survivor of an attempt to map the underground. He brought the disease with him and was found lying in Central Park, raving about spiders and poisen. He was unable to clarify his remarks before passing on. Flowers and condolences should be sent to the Chiavo family care of the Board of Regents.

Droid Marketplace

Sat May 21

From the Atlantis Patriot's merchant news section:
Industry insiders report that the large number of droid market competitors has finally escalated competition into almost open warfare. The triggering spark appears to have been a recent successful assault on the Graf Free Company, causing a major droid market loss. Shortly after the assault, another was made on General Products Corporation, causing a massive marketshare loss to their stockholders, especially in the droid market. A few hours after those attacks by market raiders, Lefty's Droids was knocked completely out of the droid market and out of business, leading to speculation of retaliation by at least one of the previously attacked companies.
It is speculated that Lefty's Droids has enough cash on hand to reorganize and purchase new market share, but look for further rapid fluctuations in this market as there is still lots of competition to sell you a droid.
Analysts agree that in the long term, this should improve the droid market, with the potential for new and improved products as the companies seek to diversify their lines and compete better in a crowded market, but short term some droid prices may rise because of the added security costs being imposed on any company that wants to manufacture in the AI marketplace.

Implants Unsafe

Fri May 20

From the Atlantis Journal, Soldier of Fortune, and Atlantis Patriot:
The Board of Regents has published a report, by Doctor Jonathan Warwick, which proves that having more than one implant is dangerous to the human body. Reports have been pouring in from around Atlantis of sometimes fatal injuries as a result of defective implants. The injuries are most frequent during combat engagements. It appears that a glancing or ineffective attack is just as likely to result in injury from implants as a solid blow.
An addendum to the report includes details of how implants can be repaired, instead of replaced. This addendum consists almost entirely of data produced by Dark Moon Cybernetics, which was not released to the public until today. Dark Moon Cybernetics stated that it wanted to confirm its results before releasing the information to the public.
The Board of Regents has updated the regulations regarding cybernetic implants to reflect the information contained in the report. All licensed cybernetic implant facilities will now only install one implant per person. Also, new implants must include the capability to be repaired. Implants installed prior to these regulations were not designed to be repairable.
Doctor Warwick dedicated his report to the late Bob Jensen, a senior researcher for Dark Moon Cybernetics. Bob Jensen died from complications with his implants a week ago. Jensen was under the care of Spyri Arms at the time of his death.

Capitalists attempt to strike back

Wed Apr 27

From the Atlantis Times:
Several of our recently regained ports were invaded today by forces under the leadership of the Capitalist Pigs. They had a new leader, who was killed in their futile attempt to capture Syria. It is reported that they now have more new leadership.

Party Port Invaded

Thu Apr 14

From the Atlantis Times:
At noon today, a large force of Lefty's Droids entered the Party Port and wiped out a defensive force of droids owned by the Times. Fortunately, local security forces under the command of the Graf Free Company quickly responded to the droid's battle reports and a mobile combat team was able to wipe out the attackers with no further friendly loss of life. A pair of Neutral subs belonging to a Regent were destroyed or disabled due to collateral damage.
All Party Members are advised to be on a heightened state of alert after this recent attack.

Mercenary News

Mon Apr 11

The Following appeared in the Soldier of Fortune:
Guildmeister passes away Shore Patrol Captain Missing
Earlier today the Guildmeister of the Mercenary Faction, Guildmeister Roland, while in the hospital for earlier heart complications suffered a stroke and fell into a coma. His chance of survival was marked limited so the Guild Council voted in favor of removing him off life support in order to prevent undue pain. The hospital fees up till this point have been in the millions, and it is beleived that the price of maintaining his life further played a large part in the decision to allow him to pass on.      In other news. The leader of the shore Patrol, Stream. Has disappeared after missing from her duties for several days, several officers went to investigate her house, they found it empty. After reporting in they went and checked her submarine as well as her former apartment and her arcology. All lacked any sign of her being there, except for half finished paperwork in her shore patrol office. The Shore Patrol requests that anyone who might know what has happened to her to please step forward.

Guerrier Port Falls

Sat Apr 09

From the Atlantis Times:
The revolution has come to the Guerrier Port at last. Our glorious Premier's forces faced no serious defenses, not only taking the Guerrier dock and port with ease, but cleaning out the Imperialist companies located within. A new non-profit worker's cooperative has been formed by the displaced workers of Guerrier Robotics, who have kept the name Guerrier, but replace their allegience to the Capitalist Pig Dogs with their natural friends, the Totalitarian Party.

From the Atlantis Patriot:
It has been reported that Guerrier Port has fallen to the enemy. All flags should be at half-mast in mourning for our enslaved peoples.

Recovery of Syria Fails

Fri Mar 25

From the Atlantis Patriot:
A large force of Guerrier-led Defense Council forces attempted to retake Syria Port late last night. The Totes appeared to be waiting for them in a trap, with forces in the port itself and in multiple submarines around the dock.
Prince Manzo boarded an oddly shaped object that was firing on the DC Forces along with his full contingent of guards. He was never heard from again and is presumed dead, along with all of his forces destroyed.
Further DC Forces under the leadership of Prince Ilidio, Duke Ayos and Count Renkek fought bravely in Syria Dock and Port, but were wiped out, with all three being taken prisoner, although Prince Ilidio managed to escape with the aide of King Mauvais.
Sadly, while traveling later that night, King Mauvais was intercepted by Tote forces and executed by the Premier Calisto.
It is a sad day in Captown today, but we must regroup to continue to fight our enemies. It will be difficult, since most of the Defense Council's funds were spent on this attempt to free the people of Syria.

From the Atlantis Times:
      A day of celebration, comrades!

Party and Syria Ports Captured

Fri Mar 18

From Soldier of Fortune:
Elements of the Graf Free Company recaptured Party Port and Syria Port on behalf of the Totalitarian Regime this evening. In one rapid strike after another, GFC forces overwhelmed a surprisingly small number of defenders at each location and setup security and management of each port.
A spokesman for the GFC forces advises the public that "Neutrals in the conflict are advised to avoid the Party Port, but as usual are welcome to travel to the shops and entertainment facilities in Syria."
Representatives of the Defense Council were unavailable at press time for comment, but there is speculation that they must have shifted their main forces to an unnamed location in anticipation of possible attack. One Capitalist citizen did comment that he was "sure that we will fight to take them back in due time, especially with the support of my fellow family members the Guerriers behind any actions taken as well."

Battle over Party Port

Tue Mar 15

From the Atlantis Patriot:
Following up their earlier success in Totetown, elements of the Graf Free Company attempted to capture Party Port for the Totes. The invasion forces consisted of an oddly shaped object, a giant squid as well as more conventional ground troops. After the GFC cleared the dock and almost captured the main port, Prince Manzo led a daring counter-offensive, hitting the Mercenary forces from the dock and driving them out of the port.
The GFC force retreated, but only after capturing eight DC Droids who were caught by the oddly shaped object in the retreat. Prince Manzo gave chase, but after his submarine was destroyed, he was driven away from the retreating GFC forces by a bevy of torpedoes.
Shortly thereafter, Baroness Mason atttempted to enter the GFC Arcology and free the prisoners, but was also captured, to be eventually released on parole for future trial.
This episode ended in a stale-mate, but it makes clear that the Totalitarians plan to persist in their attacks on our people using their mercenary allies.

Totes Pay Mercs to Clear Totetown

Fri Mar 11

From Soldier of Fortune:
In a surprise manuever Friday morning, the Graf Free Company cleared the DC droids out of Totetown and Totecom Droids. Admiral Ivan of the Totalitarian Party was quoted as stating, "We couldn't have done it without the Free Company. Their additional forces and tactics made recovering our territory possible. We anticipate becoming closer to our Mercenary friends in the near future in order to continue our defense against the Pirates who rule the poor, down-trodden Caps."
Captain Graf of the Free Company said that "While it wasn't a perfect mission, due to some collateral damage to an innocent bystander, which I might point out was immediately fixed by my forces, we did the job quickly and accurately. Remember us for your security and military needs."

Noted Capitalist Deaths

Tue Feb 01

The following article in the Atlantis Patriot received much higher than normal circulation:

We are saddened to announce the passing of several prominent members of our community. First, Sam Spade, Chairman of the Defense Council and President of General Products fell to the notorious terrorist, Eleven. Then, Defense Council Member and congenial owner of the popular Amue club, Samuel Amue died along with the wealthy, but reclusive Lady Fox while attempting to rescue a capitalist from the evil Totalitarians at Party Port.

General Products was recently sold at auction, with the proceeds benefiting the Defense Council. The terrorist eleven, AKA Donald, was found dead recently in the caves north-east of Atlantis. The remains of several Regent Corp droids were seen in the location, but no one has been able to recover the body because of loyal CLF guard droids in the area fiercely guarding the remains.

The Amue club and MegaCorp will be sold at auction shortly, with the proceeds also to benefit the Defense Council. With the recent deaths and shake-ups in our small community, new Defense Council members have also been elected to lead our people in their fight for freedom against the Totalitarians.

Stock Crash

Mon Jan 31

The following appeared in the Atlantis Patriot and Soldier Of Fortune:

Stock Crash
The fastest stock crash in history occurred this morning. The hardest hit was the submarine market. It fell from over 4 million to just under 300,000. Shipping fell from 500,000 to 300,000. All other markets remained about the same or showed dramatic increases. Overall, the markets fell from 5.7 million to 2.4 million.
It is believed the submarine market suffered such a severe loss due to an old patent case finally being settled. Heinrich Spyri, distant relative of Spyri Arms founder Spiez Spyri, invented and patented "froenza". Froenza is the material used to coat all submarines. It's the technology that made passive sonar obsolete. The Board of Regents had previously not recognized the patent because Spyri was working for the Board of Regents when he made the discovery. This morning, the Board announced it would recognize Mr. Spyri's patent. The full details of the agreement were not disclosed; however, as a result of the settlement, Heinrich Spyri is paid about 6000 oxy for every submarine sold.
It is believed the other markets increased due to an influx of investment capital made available by those withdrawing from the submarine market. Overall, a dozen companies gained, and a few companies fell.

Graf Free Company

Sun Jan 23

            Announced in Soldier of Fortune

A Free Company has been formed by Captain Graf of the Mercenary Guild. It is available to almost any customer for military tasks large and small. No contract too large or small for our services. The Graf free Company is a reconstitution of the original Graf Free Company of 1413, by a direct descendent of the original founder. The Free Company is also currently hiring Mercenary Soldiers and Neutral Specialists on a piece-work basis.
Contact Captain Graf for more information.

Mortimer's Magics

Sun Jan 02

The following appeared in the Atlantis Patriot and the Atlantis Journal:

Mortimer's Plot Revealed
Mortimer's Magics is famous for its gold rings imbued with constitution. Earlier today, Mortimer's main ring supplier, Jack Fonci, retired and revealed an evil secret. Fonci has found a way to create zero-sum life force items. As he revealed the secret, Fonci revoked temporary life force from dozens of rings. The rings still have a positive effect on constitution, but they now also have a negative effect on dexterity.
Several unhappy clients are being questioned in relation to the death of Jack Fonci. No criminal charges have been filed at this time. Fonci was found dead in Omnis Bustum. All of his fingers had been cut off.
Mortimer has issued a statement apologizing to his customers and said he will consider refunds to anyone who wishes to return a ring purchased from him.
The rings do not appear to function quite like normal life force items. Additional life force cannot be imbued into them.
This comes as bad news for those seeking augmentation. It was recently discovered that cybernetic implants can be damaged by trauma to the host. These two items combined have this reporter looking for a new way to beef up his biceps.

Regent Corp Droids

Sat Dec 04

Regent Corporation is proud to announce the release of Android AI version 3.5. All existing droids have been upgraded automatically.
This new intelligent feature set allows droids to not only acquire targets based on their audio and tactile sensors (previously they were limited to their visual sensors), but also adds an anti-saltwater safety-interlock feature to keep their sensitive circuits protected.

Shore Patrol - Guerrier

Thu Nov 11

The following appeared in Soldier of Fortune and the Atlantis Patriot:

Shore Patrol and Guerrier Sign Agreement
The text of the agreement follows: "The Guerriers will not invade Neutral or Mercenary docks or ports. Doing so will result in all their assets being liquidated into oxy and distributed amongst the Neutral and Mercenary factions.
The Guerriers will retain control of the oceans within three ocean zones of the Guerrier port. The Guerriers are allowed to defend the ocean zones within three zones of Guerrier port, The Guerriers will require giving a one minute warning to any sub adjacent to Dark Moon.
The Guerriers will be allowed to enter Neutral and Mercenary territory if not accompanied by droids. If any droids are with them without prior permission of the factions Neutral or Mercenary, depending on which owns said territory, it will be considered a breech of contract and will result in the Guerrier robotics company ownership being transferred to the Mercenary Faction, and 5000 shares being given to the Regents Council.
At the signing of this contract The Shore Patrol agree to withdraw troops from all Guerrier territory within one hour; Guerrier territory includes Guerrier port and all ocean within 3 kilometers of the port. The Guerrier family will pay 5 million Oxy to the Shore Patrol to settle all current fines."
The agreement was signed by Major Stream of the Shore Patrol, Prince Mauvais of the Guerrier Family. It was also signed by two witnesses: Regent Hawk of the Board of Regents, and Admiral Sam Spade of the Capitalist Alliance.

ToteCom Auction

Wed Oct 27

The Board of Regents has announced that the owner of ToteCom has died, leaving it's majority shares with the Party as the heir. The board will be conducting an auction for 10,000 shares of ToteCom this Thursday at 9pm in the Exchange. Buyers should be prepared to pay the cash value of their bid at the conclusion of the auction. All proceeds will be given to the Totalitarian Party.

The current assets of ToteCom have been appraised as follows:
      Marketshare      3,058,272
      Arcology      1,500,000
      Storefront      100,000

Thank you and good luck in the bidding.

Spyri Arms

Sun Oct 17

The following article appeared in the Atlantis Patriot and Soldier of Fortune:

Shore Patrol and Defense Council Clash
On Thursday, October 14, 2114, a battle was fought in Guerrier. This battle marked the first major armed conflict between the Capitalist Alliance and the Mercenary Guild. The Shore Patrol, led by newly appointed head Captain Stream, attacked Guerrier with a force of 12 droids sometime after 11pm. The defenders consisted of 6 droids, a hovertank, and a few Capitalist officers including Admiral Sam Spade.
Details of what happened during the combat have not been released. Near the end, Regent forces arrived accompanied by an unknown Regent and a Mercenary officer, Lieutenant Marti. The Regent forces suffered few casaulties. Captain Stream and Lieutenant Marti ended the assault and returned to Zion. The Capitalist defenders appear to have lost the tank and droids, but no officers.
As a result of the conflict, there were calls to end any protections of the Capitalist Alliance; however, the Capitalist's Atlantis Lease has not been cancelled or amended. Mercenaries guards have been pulled from all docks. Unmanned submarines in the docks will be stored in safe locations to prevent damage to them from unrelated combat.
In related news, the long-awaited droid experience implants have been installed on all new and existing droids. To maximize improvement, droids should be engaged in at least two minutes of combat each week. The droids will state when they have had enough training for the week. The droids will also reflect the changes in their health reports.
Captain Stream, head of the Shore Patrol, acquired Spyri Arms shortly after Thursday's battle. The purchase price is not known, but it is estimated at 2.7 million oxy.

Caps are Pirates

Fri Oct 15

According to Captain Stream of the Shore Patrol, recent purchaser of the almost defunct Spyri Arms, "It has been declared that the Capitalist Defense Council is in league with Pirates and the Shore Patrol will no longer protect any of the Capitalist civilians. This has been declared because of their defiance against a Shore Patrol operation via a warrant to occupy Guerrier port in order to prevent further Pirate attacks. It is requested by Captain Stream of the Shore Patrol that no Mercenary takes any job offered by capitalists people."

A Defense Council representative, when asked about the charges, responded, "The Shore Patrol has no jurisdiction over Capitalist ports. The Defense Council investigated and found no credible evidence to back-up this illegal warrant. With the recent unprovoked invasions of Captown and Party port by the Totalitarians in combination with mercenaries, it is clear that the Shore Patrol wasn't defending Caps anyway."

Totes Defeated

Tue Oct 12

Admiral Sam Spade appears on the news, "I have a statement to make."

"After the recent incursion by Totalitarian forces, elements of the Defense Council Navy attacked and removed the Totes from Party Port and Totetown. Sponsored by General Products and at my own expense, I have stationed much larger forces in Captown, Syria and Party Port. If the Totes attack again, we will again defend ourselves. Thank you."

"That concludes tonight's statement from the Defense Council."

Frigus Tiro Break-In

Sun Sep 26

The following appears in The Atlantis Patriot:

Frigus Tiro Strike
Frigus Tiro reported mixed news today to its share holders. A special dividend of 137 oxy was paid per share for the forced-sell of 9 points of hovertank market share to General Products. They also announced that they had lost an additional 4 points of market share due to the loss of blue prints to unknown attackers who raided the arcology. Spyri Arms and General Products benefited from Firgus Tiro's loss. The identities of the attackers are unknown.
Liberty Shipping also issued a dividend. Due to Atlantis regulations, they were forced to sell 10 points of shipping market share to General Products. Every share of Liberty Shipping received 91 oxy per share as part of the sale.
The force sale regulation states that the company with the largest share in a given market, must sell up to 10% of its share to interested companies. The buying company's market share can only be raised to 10% of the market share of the dominant company. Additional questions regarding Atlantis regulation can be directed to the Board of Regents.

Amue

Sat Sep 18

The following appeared in The Atlantis Patriot:

Wair Dividend
Amue has purchased a 10% share in the entertainment market. The purchase price of under half a million Oxy was paid to the share holders of Wair Corporation. Each share holder received 44 Oxy per share.
In related news, there are rumors that Spyri Arms may be acquired by a new owner. The normal price tag on an arcology is one million Oxy. The standard ACN security is another nine-hundred thousand. Spyri Arms daily profit is 16250 Oxy. Those three factors put the current value of the company at 3,525,000 Oxy.
Those interested in acquiring companies or establishing new ones should contact Regent Hawk.

Liberty Shipment Tracking

Tue Sep 14

The following appeared in The Atlantis Patriot:

New Tracking System
Liberty Shipping has released a new tracking system for its shipments. When you ship with Liberty Shipping, you can now know the location of your package at all times. Liberty Shipping has used this information internally for some time, but the release of this new service to its customers has increased the shipping market's daily profit by 16% over the last week.
The tracking information is available at the destination only. Some critics have said this new system will make it easier to intercept packages, but proponents state that it greatly increases the customers peace of mind.

Droids Change Targeting

Sun Aug 29

The following appeared in the Atlantis Journal:

Droids Change Targeting Method
Guerrier Robotics researchers announced an advancement in standard droid targeting systems. Droids will now prioritize targets and defend each other. The droids new priorities are thus: 1. Target from attack command. 2. Last target that attacked the droid. 3. Last target that attacked a member of the same faction. 4. Last target that attacked a member of the same main faction. 5. Finally, random target based on kill faction order.
As a result of the improved targeting capabilities, droids equipped with the new technology can operate in areas containing more than six droids. Only six droids of a single faction can operate in a single location; however, multiple groups from different factions can operate together. Some critics fear this will make droid invasions more feasible.
In an unprecedented move, Lefty's Droids has traded 9 percent market share to Guerrier Robotics for full use of the new technologies. With this, all droids, whether purchased from Guerrier Robotics or Lefty's Droids, have been remotely upgraded.

General Products

Sun Jul 25

The following appeared in The Atlantis Patriot:

Major Dividend
General Products has purchased a 10% share in the submarine market at a cost of roughly three million Oxy. The purchase was paid to the share holders of Regent Corporation. Each share holder received 288 Oxy per share, ten times the normal dividend.
In related news, Spyri Arms also went public this week. The company lept into the spotlight last Friday when it announced it had hired one of the top hovertank designers in the industry. Using a new design, Spyri Arms was able to capture a 10% market share. The name of the designer was not disclosed.

Atlantis Communications Network

Sat Jul 24

The following appeared in The Atlantis Journal.

Nodes for Sale

The Board of Regents has once again eased some of the regulations on the Atlantis Communication Network. As part of this deregulation, private citizens and organizations can purchase more powerful nodes and networks of nodes. All private networks are custom built and must be approved by the Board of Regents. The current price formula per node is this: security level squared times 1,000 Oxy, with a 25,000 minimum. For security levels between 31 and 40, the level is squared and multiplied by 5,000 Oxy. You can purchase a basic node with a security level of 5 for only 25,000 Oxy!
To place an order or begin a free consultation, contact Regent Hawk (@mail Hawk or email hawk@hawkgames.com).

OOC: Please read '+help acn' for information on how to use the ACN. You can access the ACN from Central Park, any Zion Apartment, any Cheap Hotel coffin, and many other places.

Missing Mercenary Captain

Thu Jul 22

The following appeared in the Soldier of Fortune:

            Captain Missing
Captain Toquer of the Mercenary guild was reported missing recently. An unusual radio signal was heard, reportedly from Party Port, but an investigation by the Regents ended inconclusive. No body has been found, but the Captain remains missing and foul play is suspected.
Any information about the missing Captain should be reported to the Mercenary Guild offices.

Squid Bounty Increase

Sat Jul 10

The following appeared in The Atlantis Times, The Atlantis Patriot, and Soldier of Fortune.

Regents Raise Bounty
The Board of Regents has established a new bounty structure for giant squids. It is common knowledge that the strongest and most aggressive squids will kill weaker squids. The bounties for these more aggressive squids will now include the bounties for all the squids they have killed.
The base bounty will be lowered to 1000 Oxy; however, older squids could be worth 8000, 12000, 16000, or more. When asked to explain, Regent Hawk told us, "The new bounty structure adjusts the incentive for hunters based on the squid population. If an insufficient number of squid are slain, the bounty naturally increases. If the squid population is over-hunted, the average bounty decreases."
For you squid hunters, remember that squids will only attack large objects like submarines and other squid. If you become stranded due to a squid attack, many hunters will pay you for information regarding the location of the attacking squid. The Mercenary Rescue Company is always willing to pickup stranded hunters, once the squid is gone.

OOC: Remember, to claim a squid bounty, use the '+get ' command to pickup the beak. You do not have to leave your sub. Use the '+claim bounty' command once you have it.

Droids Made Safer

Sat Jul 10

The following appeared in The Atlantis Journal, Soldier of Fortune, The Atlantis Patriot, and The Atlantis Times.

Regents Order Droid Change
The Board of Regents has issued a new regulation on all droids. Droids may not directly kill any human. All droids have been fitted with internal devices which prevent them from doing enough damage to humans to kill them. The Board of Regents has warned the public that the devices are a new technology, and glitches may occur. Droids are still capable of knocking humans unconscious, and may kill them using a vehicle if directly ordered by another human.
The mandate may be in reply to the recent successful invasion of Party port by the Capitalist Alliance. Due to rapid changes in port ownership, non-combatants may wander into hostile territory by mistake. This new mandate should prevent such mistakes from ending in almost instant death.
The Board of Regents included in the regulation a reminder that the Mercenary Rescue Company is very effective and services the entire known world.

OOC: To call the Mercenary Rescue Company, use the '+rescue' command found in '+help combat'.

Syria Attacked

Thu Jun 10

The following appeared in The Atlantis Patriot and Soldier of Fortune.

Syria Attacked!
Shortly after 1100 this morning, a pair of hovertanks were unloaded and attempted to capture Syria. The lead hovertank was manned by Govnik, a Totalitarian who was killed in the fight. The second tank was operated by Sergeant Toquer of the Mercenary Guild.
The invading force underestimated the defenders. In recent days, four guard droids were assigned to protect Syria. This morning, Lieutenant Sam, Master Chief Fox, and Petty Officer Argh became invisible and waited with the droids. An additional droid was also added to the garrison. Commander Samuel alerted the defenders upon the arrival of the hovertanks.
As the battle began to unfold, the forces consisted of two tanks versus four Capitalist officers, five droids, and possibly a regent. Within a few minutes, a damaged hovertank remained of the invaders. The defenders report losing a single droid. Totalitarian Master Chief Govnik was slain by a regent who witnesses have refused to name.
When asked for comment, Master Chief Fox said, "It all just happened so fast. I don't know. We just did what had to be done."

Giant Squid Bounty

Sun May 30

The following appeared in The Atlantis Times, The Atlantis Patriot, and Soldier of Fortune.

Bounty Raised
The Board of Regents is now offering a bounty of 4000 Oxy on every giant squid slain. Squid hunters everywhere cheered the news as it means a 800% increase in pay. According to a Board of Regents spokesman, "The squid have grown more aware of the hunting and become more elusive. We need the best submariners hunting these squid and 500 Oxy was simply not enough to attract them. It is the hope of the Board of Regents that the increase in the bounty will lead to a decrease in the squid population and improved safety throughout the nearby ocean." To claim the 4000 Oxy bounty, the hunter must obtain the squid's beak. Good luck and happy sails.

OOC: You can use '+get ' to pick up an item in the ocean, outside of your submarine. Look at the beak once you have it for instructions on claiming the bounty.

Lehi's Death

Sat May 22

The following appeared in The Atlantis Patriot.

Lehi Murdered
Lehi was reported missing last week; however, it has just been learned that he is dead. Adrik, a Totalitarian, was killed in combat recently. Evidence related to the murder was found on him. The two main witnesses to the murder are both dead; so, what exactly took place may never be known.
According to witnesses listening the the radio, Lehi captured a Totalitarian who had surrendered. Once the Totalitarian boarded Lehi's submarine, a struggle probably took place. Lehi's submarine went to Party dock instead of the East dock.
"Anyone interested in the freedom of a Cap named Lehi? He is a prisoner at Party Port," was heard on the radio. There was interest, but negotiations were never completed. This morning an anonymous Capitalist scout found Lehi's remains in Party dock. It is believed that Adrik was the murderer.
Lehi served as Defense Council Chairman and famously led the liberation assault on Guerrier dock. Many Capitalists were helped early in their careers by Lehi. He will be missed and remembered.

Droid Experiment

Sun May 16

The following appeared in The Atlantis Journal:

The usual quiet of a Sunday afternoon in Northern Residential was shattered today as what appears to be a droid experiment got wildly out of hand. According to witnesses, armed droids marched into Northern Residential at the request of Regent Hawk.
Within moments, combat erupted. Blades were swinging and laser pistols were firing. A Mercenary Hovertank in the area was damaged. Some of the droids marched back into Hawk's Laboratory, while those that remained destroyed each other and themselves. No humans were killed. Regent Hawk, who was on the scene, refused to comment.
We at the Journal can only hope that this was a failed experiment, and not a precursor to future violence.
